August 2023
Eid-al Fitr is a three-day celebration that takes place after the month-long dawn to dusk fasting of Ramadan. During this time, people pray together in mosques and then gather with family and friends to enjoy a delicious feast! During Eid-al-Fitr, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and the graves of relatives are visited. People are greeted with “Eid Mubarak” which translates to “Blessed Eid” and with formal embraces.
Join us in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday, August 2nd at 1:00 PM for a special presentation, and to learn more about Afghanistan!

Bed in Summer
In winter, I get up at night
And dress by yellow candlelight.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.
I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.
And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

We can provide the following individualized services:
Ashbourne has established an Endowment Fund with Edmonton Community Foundation, and it is now accepting donations. This Fund is an enduring investment created to enhance the care that is offered to our residents. The Fund will assist in special programs and projects and support residents who are experiencing financial hardship. Donations to the Ashbourne Endowment Fund will assist in maintaining the excellent, compassionate and supportive community that Ashbourne has become. For more information, visit our page on the Edmonton Community Foundation website.
By including charitable gifts in your financial planning, not only do you support this wonderful organization, but you may also be eligible for charitable tax credits that can eliminate a significant amount of taxes payable. This gift can mean big savings on your annual tax return. If you include a gift to Ashbourne in your estate plans, you may also eliminate significant taxes payable upon your death. This would leave a more substantial portion of your estate to your loved ones and other beneficiaries.
The funds donated to Ashbourne's Legacy Fund will be invested in a term deposit account. A Legacy Fund committee will determine when and how the funds will be used. Legacy funds will only be utilized for the following purposes.
Choosing to remember Ashbourne with a gift in your Estate is the perfect way to let your care and compassion for other seniors continue in years to come.
